Edward J. Kvet named provost and vice president of academic affairs for Loyola

Loyola University New Orleans announced this week Edward J. Kvet, D.M.E., dean of the College of Music and Fine Arts (CMFA), will become the provost and vice president of academic affairs for the university effective Aug. 1. Kvet’s appointment follows the announcement of current Academic Provost Walter Harris’ retirement earlier this month.

“A Night at the Opera” to delight audiences with scenes from opera favorites

The opera theatre department at Loyola University New Orleans will present an evening of well-known operatic scenes during “A Night at the Opera” on April 28, at 7:30 p.m., in Nunemaker Auditorium located on the third floor of Monroe Hall, on Loyola’s main campus.

Writing and theatre students at Loyola collaborate to produce two evenings of 10-minute plays

Students enrolled in the English 415: Writing Dialogue class at Loyola University New Orleans will have the opportunity to hear and see their words come to life with the help of theatre arts and dance students. Several short plays, based on students’ submissions and directed by visiting assistant professor of theatre arts C. Patrick Gendusa, will be shown in two performances in Marquette Theatre on Wednesday, April 23 and Wednesday, April 30, at 5 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

“Love on the Rocks” - A musical cabaret about life, love and relationships

The Loyola University New Orleans Department of Theatre Arts and Dance presents an evening of songs about life, love and relationships in a cabaret-style musical show called “Love on the Rocks.” The show will be performed by students from the theatre department’s Musical Theatre II course. “Love on the Rocks” will run for one night only in Roussel Hall, May 1, at 8 p.m.

Youth summer writing program offered at Loyola

This summer, the Writing Institute at Loyola University New Orleans will offer a creative writing workshop for young writers. The workshop, which begins June 9, is a two-week immersion in the world of creative writing that provides a supportive environment for aspiring young writers. The program is designed for Orleans Parish high school students in the 9th, 10th and 11th grades.
