Loyola alumnus, former instructor elected to US House of Representatives

Loyola University New Orleans College of Law alumnus and former Jesuit seminarian Anh “Joseph” Cao was elected Saturday, Dec. 6 to represent Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Visual Arts department members aid in downtown artification project

Loyola University New Orleans’ visual arts faculty member Alan Gerson and visual arts junior Caitlin Clifford were invited to produce artwork for the New Orleans Downtown Development District’s Artification Project. Their works were selected from 127 entries in a blind-jury process.

Loyola Professor of Sociology William E. Thornton, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Criminal Justice, was elected to serve as a member of the Jefferson Parish Children and Youth Planning Board.

Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society, awarded a $600 grant to Loyola’s Pi Sigma Alpha chapter on Dec. 1 to pay for the chapter’s banquet and research paper contest.

Garkeiva Council had a career high 20 points as Loyola defeated Allen 79-36 Saturday afternoon in the Allen Gymnasium.
