Loyola closely monitors swine flu outbreak

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cases of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus have been identified in several U.S. states. Although no known cases of swine influenza have been discovered in Louisiana, health officials at Loyola University New Orleans are taking precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of everyone on campus.

University community invited to attend tribute ceremony to Qatar

The counselor for Qatar’s embassy in Washington, D.C., Fahad Mohammed Kafoud, will visit Loyola University New Orleans’ campus Wednesday, May 6, to meet with students who received scholarships from the $100 million Qatar Katrina Fund.

Three students from the College of Humanities and Natural Sciences at Loyola University New Orleans are receiving a lesson in energy conservation through a project that has them developing biodiesel from used vegetable oil.

John Biguenet debuts second drama in "Rising Water" trilogy

Loyola University New Orleans professor, playwright and novelist John Biguenet will debut the second drama in his “Rising Water” trilogy, “Shotgun,” at Southern Repertory Theatre, May 6-31. Previews begin Wednesday, May 6, followed by opening night, Saturday, May 9.

The Office of Residential Life will kick off a year-end recycling campaign on Friday, May 1, and is asking students to donate their reusable goods and old textbooks rather than tossing them in the trash.

KidsArt summer program returns

KidsArt, an art program for children ages 7 to 14, will return this summer at Loyola University New Orleans. This year’s session will be held July 13-24, in St. Mary’s Hall, located on Loyola’s Broadway campus.

Loyola University New Orleans will hold its Baccalaureate Mass on Friday, May 8, and its 98th commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9, at the Louisiana Superdome. The College of Law will hold its Graduation Mass and commencement on Friday, May 15 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
