President's Forum focuses on continued effects of oil spill

As the anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill approaches, Loyola University New Orleans will host the 2010-11 President's Forum, "Oil and Water: Spotlight on the Gulf" on Wednesday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Monroe Hall’s Nunemaker Auditorium.

Loyola University New Orleans will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the civil rights Freedom Riders by premiering the screening of a documentary of the same name on May 9, 7 p.m. in Roussel Hall.

The Loyola University New Orleans Alumni Association has selected John D’Arcy Becker ’61 as the 2010 recipient of the Adjutor Hominum Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Alumni Association.

Supporter donates artwork as permanent fixture in Sculpture Garden

Nia Terezakis, M.D., a well-known physician in New Orleans and highly respected art designer and collector, has donated a sculpture from her personal collection to Loyola University New Orleans. “Lilly,” a kinetic sculpture crafted by acclaimed New Orleans artist Lin Emery, is the first art piece to become a permanent installation in Loyola’s Sculpture Garden.

iLIVE recognized as Outstanding Campus Program

Loyola University New Orleans was awarded the prestigious 2011 Ignatian Medal for Outstanding Campus Program by the Jesuit Association of Professional Administrators last month at their annual spring conference, held this year at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pa.

Loyola University New Orleans Alumni Weekend will take place Friday, May 13 – Sunday, May 15. The weekend is held in conjunction with commencement events, allowing alumni to celebrate their Wolfpack pride alongside graduating seniors.

“Facing Catastrophe: Environmental Action for a Post-Katrina World,” a book by College of Law professor Robert Verchick, J.D., was listed as a Choice Outstanding Academic Title of 2010 by the American Library Association.

Ryan Brock, a senior on Loyola University's men's basketball team, added to his season of accomplishments by being named the Louisiana Small College Player of the Year by the Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches.
