Loyola professors participate in international exhibition

October 26, 2012

Liz Buchta and Daniela Marx, professors in the Department of Art and Design at Loyola University New Orleans, recently collaborated on a project for the exhibition “Reminders” at the Jamjuree Art Gallery at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.

The invitation-only exhibit featured the work of four designers who were asked to create work focusing on typography and positive messages. Drawing on Jesuit values, Buchta and Marx chose to create work that highlighted specific virtues.

"The Golden Life," consisting of 20 works on paper, 20 double-sided prints on plexiglass and 20 double-sided t-shirts, focuses on 20 words which represent aspects of self essential to living a “golden” life. The artists’ goal was to focus the viewers’ attention not only on the words themselves, but also on the elusive nature of their attainment in this noisy world.
