Center for Spiritual Capital welcomes Kishore Jayabalan

October 26, 2012

The Center for Spiritual Capital in the Loyola University New Orleans College of Business presents "Is the Commercial Society Compatible with Christian Humanism?," a lecture by Kishore Jayabalan, director of Istituto Acton, the Acton Institute’s Rome office. It takes place Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. in Miller Hall, Room 208 and is free and open to the public. Free pizza will be served.

Jayabalan, director of Istituto Acton since 2005, organizes the institute’s educational and outreach efforts in Rome and throughout Europe. Istituto Acton is a research and educational think tank that promotes a free and virtuous society characterized by individual liberty and sustained by religious principles. Prior to Istituto Acton, Jayabalan worked as an analyst for environmental and disarmament issues with the Vatican's Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace as well as a desk officer for English-speaking countries.

During his graduate studies, Kishore was baptized and received into the Roman Catholic Church by Pope John Paul II in Rome in 1996. He later worked as a student campus minister at the university’s Newman Centre, which led to his appointment to the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations in New York in 1997. Two years later, he returned to Rome to work for the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.
