One week left for Magis Student Leadership Awards nominations

Nominations are still being accepted for the Loyola University New Orleans Magis Student Leadership Awards, a celebration of leadership and service, and a ceremonial salute to university excellence.
Sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs and now in its 31st year, these awards celebrate the achievements of outstanding members of the campus community and honor students who have committed themselves to Loyola. The campus community has the opportunity to recognize and congratulate these extraordinary people and groups by nominating them for a leadership award by the Friday, March 22 deadline. Winners, nominees and guests will be invited for a night of dessert, entertainment and awards April 30 at 7 p.m. in the St. Charles Room.
2013 Magis Student Leadership Awards include:
Outstanding Contribution to the Loyola Community Awards
- Outstanding Student Leader Class of First Year, Sophomore and Junior Students - Presented to non-graduating Loyola undergraduates in the 2014, 2015 or 2016 class for exceptional contributions and exhibiting further potential in leadership.
- Outstanding Student Program of the Year - Presented to a student organization for implementing an outstanding program.
- Student Organization of the Year - Presented to a student organization that has made exceptional contributions within the Loyola community.
- Student Organization Officer of the Year - Presented to a student organization officer who has exhibited outstanding leadership for their organization and campus community during their term.
Presentation of the Mary Ann Reising Flynn Scholarship
- Mary Ann Reising Flynn Scholarship (first year or sophomore women only) - Presented to a promising first or second year woman who has demonstrated positive impact through her leadership qualities.
Cura Personalis Awards
- Rev. Francis Xavier, S.J., Award for International and Global Perspective - This award is given in recognition of outstanding student leadership in the promotion of an international and global perspective at Loyola.
- Janet Mary Riley Award for the Advancement of Women's Issues - Presented to a Loyola student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership on issues central to women on campus and in the larger community.
- Rev. Matteo Ricci, S.J., Award for Intercultural Understanding - Presented to a Loyola student who was demonstrated outstanding leadership on issues central to intercultural understanding.
- Rev. Pedro Arrupe, S.J., Award for Social Justice (individual) - This award recognizes an individual who exemplifies a commitment to serving others and to increasing awareness and sensitivity to issues faced by marginalized communities.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam Awards
- Dr. Alton F. Doody Spirit of Leadership Award (junior and senior students only) - Presented to one student who has demonstrated exemplary initiative, motivation, imagination and potential for civic leadership while maintaining the highest degree of personal integrity.
- Rev. James Carter, S.J., Award for Outstanding Leadership (senior students only) - Presented to one student who best exemplifies those qualities and attributes associated with learning in the Jesuit tradition.
